Kansas City is still the division standard because of Patrick Mahomes, but over the last few seasons their offense has looked less explosive and more dependent on execution, protection, and late-game situational football. They still thrive through the air, but pressure and long down-and-distance situations can slow them down. The Raiders’ path is clear: affect Mahomes without constantly blitzing, tackle well underneath, and force the Chiefs to sustain long drives instead of giving up quick explosive plays.
Denver has become a more complete, disciplined team over recent years, with its biggest strength coming from defense, physicality, and overall control of the game. They do not always overwhelm opponents with explosive offense, but they can make life difficult by winning early downs and keeping games on their terms. To beat them, the Raiders need to create chunk plays, stay ahead of the chains, and avoid getting dragged into a slow, defensive game where Denver’s structure and consistency can take over.
The Chargers remain one of the more talented teams in the division because of Justin Herbert and their passing-game upside. Over the last few years they have shown they can move the ball efficiently, but they have also had stretches where physicality, run defense, and consistency become issues. The Raiders need to disrupt Herbert’s rhythm, make the game more physical, and control possession. If Las Vegas can run effectively, win at the line of scrimmage, and keep the Chargers from playing comfortably through the air, the matchup becomes far more manageable.
